Chapter 659 659: Mirror Match

"Metagross, MEGA EVOLVE!"

Chadri's Mega Ring lit up with rainbow light, connecting with the Metagrossite embedded in his Pokemon's body.

METAGROSS!!!

Metagross's already imposing form underwent transformation. Four additional arms sprouted from its body, giving it eight limbs total. Its steel-blue body became sleeker and more aggressive.

"A Mega Metagross!" The crowd cheered.

Chadri's original ace. The Pokemon he'd had since the beginning of his journey. The partner that had earned him the title of Steel Emperor.

Haxorus, still in Outrage mode, roared at the steel titan.

"Haxorus, finish it! Outrage!" John commanded.

The Shiny Haxorus charged, its whole body covered in dragon energy.

"Meteor Mash!" Chadri countered.

Mega Metagross's four front arms glowed with metallic light. It charged forward to meet the dragon!

BOOOOM!

Dragon versus steel, the crash sent out a massive shockwave.

Haxorus's Outrage cut into Mega Metagross's steel body.

But Mega Metagross's Meteor Mash, powered by Tough Claws, came down with devastating force.

WHAM!

Both Pokemon traded hits.

CRASH! BOOM! BANG!

The two kept fighting. Each impact sounded like explosions.

But Haxorus was already tired from its previous battles. The Outrage was ending, confusion setting in.

Mega Metagross pressed the advantage. Another Meteor Mash connected.

BOOM!

Haxorus crashed down, defeated.

"Haxorus can't battle! Mega Metagross wins!"

The crowd cheered. Chadri got another one back!

John recalled Haxorus. "Good work. Rest now."

He looked at Chadri's Mega Metagross, then smiled.

"You want a mirror match?" John grabbed his third Pokeball. "Fine. Let's do this properly."

The Pokeball had a weird shine to it.

"Come out, Metagross!"

The huge Steel/Psychic-type appeared, and everyone gasped.

This wasn't normal. Its body was silver-chrome instead of steel blue. The X on its face was gold instead of silver.

"A Shiny Metagross?!" Chadri's eyes went wide.

He raised his Mega Ring.

"Metagross, MEGA EVOLVE!"

The stone in Metagross responded. Silver-chrome turned to bright platinum as Mega Shiny Metagross emerged. Four extra arms came out, giving it eight total.

The gold X on its face glowed with psychic power.

Mega Shiny Metagross floated forward. The air around it shimmered.

Two Mega Metagross. One steel-blue. One platinum-silver. Both with eight arms. Both ready to fight.

"Metagross! Meteor Mash!" both trainers yelled at once.

CLANG!

Eight arms versus eight arms! Steel versus steel!

The two Mega Metagross collided in the center, trading blows at incredible speed. Each had four arms attacking while four blocked.

BOOM BOOM BOOM!

It was perfectly matched. Same Pokemon. Same moves. Same ability.

"Bullet Punch!" Chadri called.

"Bullet Punch!" John echoed.

Both Metagross used the priority move at the same time.

WHAM!

They hit each other simultaneously, both getting knocked back.

"Zen Headbutt!"

"Psychic!"

Chadri's Mega Metagross charged with psychic energy around its head.

John's Mega Shiny Metagross's eyes glowed blue. Psychic pressure slammed down, stopping the charge and crushing Chadri's Metagross from above.

CRASH!

But Chadri's Metagross pushed through, its eight arms digging into the ground for leverage, fighting against the psychic force.

"That's it! Don't give up!" Chadri yelled.

The steel-blue Mega Metagross roared and broke free, launching forward with Meteor Mash.

SLAM!

It connected! John's Mega Shiny Metagross got hit and pushed back.

"Good hit," John admitted. "But we're just getting started. Metagross! Agility into Meteor Mash!"

Mega Shiny Metagross's speed doubled. Then it blurred forward, faster than before.

BAM BAM BAM BAM!

Four Meteor Mash strikes hit from four different angles, too fast for Chadri's Metagross to block them all.

"Counter with Hammer Arm!" Chadri commanded.

Mega Metagross's arms glowed with fighting energy, super effective against steel!

WHAM!

The Hammer Arm connected, hitting Mega Shiny Metagross hard.

But John's Metagross tanked it and responded with Meteor Mash to the face.

CRASH!

Both Mega Metagross were breathing hard now. Both showed damage. Both refused to quit.

This was it. The final exchange.

"Metagross! Everything you've got! Giga Impact!" Chadri shouted.

His Mega Metagross roared. All eight arms spread wide, its entire body glowing with massive normal-type energy. It charged like a meteor.

"Metagross! Meteor Mash, full power!" John commanded.

Mega Shiny Metagross's four front arms blazed with platinum light, Tough Claws boosting the power to maximum. It charged to meet its counterpart.

BOOOOOOOM!

The two Mega Metagross collided head-on with everything they had.

The explosion shook the entire stadium. The barriers flickered. People covered their eyes from the light.

When the smoke cleared...

Both Metagross stood there, de-Mega Evolved from the strain.

Chadri's steel-blue Metagross swayed...

John's silver-chrome Shiny Metagross swayed...

Then Chadri's Metagross fell forward, eyes spiraled.

John's Shiny Metagross remained standing, barely, one arm holding itself up.

"Metagross can't battle! Shiny Metagross wins!"

The crowd exploded with noise.

Chadri had six Pokemon. John only used three.

Everyone realized at once. John swept the Steel Emperor using only half his team.

And even them, those pokemons were not from his main team they all sawed in the broadcast he didn't use his blaziken, ghreninja, gardevoir or any of it's legendary pokemon! while Chadri used 2 of them.

Chadri stood quiet, then walked over.

"That was incredible," he said. "A true mirror match."

John recalled his Shiny Metagross. "Your Metagross pushed mine to the limit. Be proud."

Chadri held out his hand.

"Thanks for the battle."

John shook it.

"Stand proud, you are strong."
